Food Safety Auditor/SQF Consultant/ GFSI Technical Review/ President

John “J.R.” Williams joined Food Safety International, Inc. as a field sanitarian and auditor. He later became a major shareholder and was named President. His wife, Kathy Lyn Williams, is Food Safety International’s Chief Executive Officer.

Williams received a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Memphis in 1974. He received ITT Operations Training in Washington, DC in 1978. He was enrolled at the Kepnor Tregoe Institute from 1990 until 1992. Williams attended ServiceMaster Management Academy in April 1997 and became an AIB Certified Sanitarian in June 1998. Additionally, Williams attended the Purdue University Food Plant Pest Management in April 2001. He continued his educations by receiving AIB Inspection and Allergen Training in August 2002. Williams is certified SQF, BRC, and IFS International Auditor.

Williams brings product management experience from his jobs at Morningstar, Smuckers and Flavorite Labs. He served as a sanitarian for Wonder Bread at various U.S. locations. Williams started Food Safety International, Inc. in June 2003.

J.R. is now certified as a (PCQI) which is a requirement of the new Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulation. The regulation is effective September 17, 2016 for every processing facility which now has to have a trained resource person or Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) who has completed a specialized training course such as the one developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) that is recognized by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This person will oversee the implementation of the facility’s food safety plan and other key tasks.
